#Washington Post article: #America is able to confront #China and #Russia simultaneously
An article in the Washington Post claimed that the United States is capable of confronting China and Russia at the same time, calling on "the American left and right" to stop questioning this.
The article, written by newspaper columnist Josh Rogen, said that US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan proved this without launching any new wars or losing any ongoing battles.
He said the United States has many powerful partners who also understand that Russia and China pose a dual threat to America, not separate threats.
Rogen called on political leaders on both sides of the American political spectrum to stop deceiving the American people and promoting that the United States has the luxury to choose one evil over the other.
one confrontation
He continued saying that Pelosi's visit to Taiwan should stop two common but wrong ideas: the idea of the American right that says that Russia should be retreated to confront China, and the idea of the left that China should retreat to confront Russia, describing this as a wrong choice "because it is all one confrontation."
The writer praised the position of Congress, which ratified the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO, in a strong rebuke of the "brutal and unjustified Russian war" against Ukraine, and its support for the Speaker of the House of Representatives' visit to Taiwan, adding that despite deep suspicions about US interference abroad, it appears that Leaders in both parties understand that America has a duty and an interest in exercising active world leadership and repelling its enemies in both Europe and Asia.
He also praised the statement of Republican Senator Ted Cruz, who said that America does not defeat China by withdrawing from the rest of the world and that "we defeated China by standing with our allies against our enemies."
