An explosion hits America's largest dam.. a video of the incident #usa #russia #ukrain
An explosion occurred at one of the facilities of the Hoover Dam, which is located on the Colorado River between the states of Nevada and Arizona, but the US authorities confirmed that the situation was under control.
A video clip, circulated by social media pioneers, showed the moment a flame ball exploded in the Hoover Dam, before plumes of smoke rose into the sky.
The video was taken by chance, by the American writer, Christy Hurston, when she was on a trip over the dam, and the video gained more than 6 million views within hours.
American sources said that the explosion damaged the hydroelectric power complex in the dam, specifically at the site of the turbines, noting that no injuries were recorded in the accident that occurred on Tuesday.
Pictures of firefighters were spotted putting out the fires in the dam.
The Hoover Dam is the largest hydroelectric dam in the United States, providing electric power to three states in the country.
Water levels in Lake Mead, which was created by the dam, have fallen to a historical record low, due to the ongoing drought in the region, which also faced sweltering heat Tuesday.
It is not clear whether the high demand for electricity, or the dam's reduced generation capacity as a result of its reduced water is behind the fire.
Officials say an investigation has been opened into the cause of the fire.
The dam's officials tried to reassure the Americans, and one of them said that there is no danger to the electricity grid, and that the dam is still generating energy.
