#Johnson bids farewell to Parliament with 4 tips for his successor and "Hasta La Vista Baby" #ukrain #uk #usa
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson used his last session of Parliament on Wednesday to offer some advice to his expected successor, then bid farewell to MPs with a funny Spanish phrase.
Johnson used the time he had before the House of Representatives, saying: "I want to use the few seconds left, Mr Speaker, to give some words of advice to my successor, whoever it may be."
"First, stay close to Americans, stand up for Ukrainians, stand up for freedom and democracy everywhere, and cut taxes and lift restrictions where possible to make this place the greatest place to live and invest."
Boris then thanked all the "wonderful" House of Commons staff and the Speaker, and ended his speech with "hasta la vista baby" ("hasta la vista baby") in Spanish, meaning "goodbye, my love", to warm applause from the audience.
The race for the prime ministership in Britain, on Wednesday, became limited to former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak and Foreign Minister Liz Terrace, to start the final stage of the competition to choose who would replace Johnson.
Sunak has led in all rounds of voting among Conservative MPs, but Truss appears to have an advantage so far among about 200,000 members of the ruling party who will ultimately choose the winner.
The final leg of the weeks-long race pits Sunak, the former Goldman Sachs banker who has raised the tax burden to the highest level since the 1950s, against Truss, who backed Brexit and vowed to cut taxes and regulations.
Whoever wins when the result is announced on the fifth of September will inherit some of the most difficult conditions in Britain in decades, inflation is on its way to reach 11 percent annually, with growth rates stalling and the pound sterling approaching its lowest levels against the dollar.
